Pentland Alliance Investing energy in the future of Dounreay

Home

Pentland Alliance is a joint venture of UKAEA*, AMEC and CH2M HILL formed to compete for the management and operations contract at Dounreay.  For the past four years, AMEC and CH2M HILL have supported UKAEA in the management of the site decommissioning programme at Dounreay.  This work has been carried out on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), who is responsible for overseeing the decommissioning and clean-up of Dounreay.

Working as part of the Dounreay team on site, UKAEA with the support of its partners has been setting the UK benchmark for accelerated nuclear decommissioning and remediation.  The partnership between NDA, Dounreay Site Restoration Limited (DSRL) and the Alliance partner companies have brought about fundamental changes and achievements to the site.  Performance levels have improved, standards of safety have been driven up, the impact on the local environment has been reduced and major cost savings have been achieved through innovative project strategies.

Pentland Alliance is dedicated to helping the local community safeguard the long-term socio-economic future of Caithness and will draw upon our experience to actively assist in the creation of new jobs, skills development and career transition as a response to Dounreay’s decommissioning.

* In November 2009 UKAEA Ltd was acquired by Babcock International Group.
